What is Olatuenea

After 15 years at sea as skipper of the sailing boat Olatua (the wave in Basque), sailing and teaching the crew the secrets of the Balearic Islands, I begin to look for a place on land where to anchor my anchor and my soul.

I don't know very well what my place in the world is, nor do I know very well what I want. The bay of Txingudi (Hondarribia, Irun and Hendaye) is the place where I start my search. The quiet valleys of Navarre bordering Gipuzkoa call me and I start to go up the Bidasoa River.

30kms from Hondarribia is Sunbilla where I find "Pepabaita", the original name of the house. I feel this is the place!

I make a firm grounding, I moor myself and a new project begins to hover in my head; a rural house Olatuenea "the house of the wave".

In this new voyage I want to share with people two places I love; the mountains and the sea! Welcome aboard!
